The Advanced Pistol Handling course is designed to expand the circumstances and conditions under which a student can apply the skills developed in the Intuitive Defense Shooting Course. This course will cover:

  • Non-Diagnostic Linear Malfunction Drills
  • One handed & Weak Handed Reloads
  • One Handed & Weak Handed Malfunction Drills
  • Presentation from the holster in 360 degrees
  • Unorthodox Shooting Positions (grounded, seated)
  • Shooting Around Cover
  • Unreasonable Distance Shooting
  • Volume of Fire
  • The Balance of Speed & Precision

The APH Course is designed as a follow on for students who have completed fundamental defensive shooting training in the IDS Program and want to expand their skill sets and increase competency. At the end of the course, the student will have been exposed to (and practiced) shooting positions from all plausible angles while standing, seated, kneeling, prone or supine, as well as properly shooting around cover in order to maximize its protective value. Students will also train one handed firearm handling, reloading, and malfunction clearing. Unlike the IDS Program, in APH students, will be forced to deal with a variety of malfunctions in a way that is congruent with the conditions of a dynamic critical incident.

The APH course is an intense physically and mentally challenging course that will take any student's confidence and ability to defend themselves with a gun to a higher level. Students will fire between 800-1000 rounds during this course.

Students will fire a minimum of 600 rounds during this course. (Students are welcome to bring extra ammunition, as there will be certain drills where round count can easily be increased.)

Price does not include ammunition.

OUTSTANDING follow up to the FoIDS curriculum! I was host and participant for this course 2 days ago and WHAT AN EYE OPENER!

UHHH YEAH!!'s NOT a given that when you encounter a dynamic critical incident that you will be shooting from a standing position!! I find that far too many people make this assumption, or maybe they just don't think that much about it? The problem is that there aren't many range opportunities to work on shooting while kneeling, sitting, laying on your back, various malfunctions while moving, one handed reloads etc. This course is TREMENDOUS in that capacity. This skill set should certainly be considered by anyone who is serious about defending themselves and their loved ones with a firearm.

Rob's instruction for this material is WORLD CLASS as usual, and my comfort level and confidence level have most certainly been boosted in the area of advanced pistol handling. IMHO - this is not the type of skill set you want to develop on your own. It's best to do this initially under the supervision of an experienced instructor. And if you are going to do that, why not do it with one of the best on the planet?!!

Under Rob's supervision and with his approach to teaching the material, I NEVER FOR EVEN A SPLIT SECOND felt unsafe or at risk learning these advanced skills!

THANK YOU ROB PINCUS for your never ending professionalism and expertise! Looking forward to the next step!

I participated in the Advanced Pistol Handling (APH) class yesterday (06/23/2016) in Leadville, Colorado. It was my fifth class in CFS system and it did not disappoint! As Rob said at one point, some of the drills were a bit like "Gun Yoga". This course is physically challenging and very rewarding. I have a whole new bunch of skills and drills to practice on my own. I would recommend this course to anyone who is ready to take their solid basic skills to the next level. Be sure to stretch before class!
